Emma childrens hospital walls

A great big project for the Emma children's hospital in Amsterdam. Design buro Opera asked me to make illustrations to illuminate the walls of the newly designed neonatology ward. The assignment was to make something based around the theme "growth". It was very important to make illustrations that have a soothing and peacefull character, considering the worried parents and family of the little patients. I created a botanical theme with different flowers and plants to be the main images. Thru-out the whole ward characters can be seen interacting with eachother. The character's interactions are also about growth and parenthood. All over the walls you can spot dandelion fluff babys traveling from left to right. I also used the sort of type used in old botanical drawings to give the illustrations a scientific feeling.
